Knights of Columbus Annual Essay Contest for Grade 7 – 12 Student s

Tenth-grade Long Beach student, Loyalty Traster-Lee, won First Place in the Knights of Columbus Essay contest themed, “The Importance of Religious Freedom.”

The theme of the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest is: “The Importance of Religious Freedom.”

The Order encourages all councils and assemblies to sponsor the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest at Catholic schools in their communities. The essay contest is a creative way to encourage young people to become citizens who are firmly grounded in the Faith.

We participate in the parish-sponsored Knights of Columbus essay contest.

The Order encourages all councils and assemblies to sponsor the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest at schools in their communities. The essay contest is a creative way to encourage young people to become citizens who are firmly grounded in the Faith.


The Knights of Columbus Essay Contest is open to all Catholic students — in public, private or parochial schools — in grades 8,9,10,11 and 12 during the current school year.All Catholic students living or attending public, private or parochial school within 50 miles of Columbia, Missouri in grades 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 are invited to participate in the 2012 – 2013 Knights of Columbus Essay Contest. Students are encouraged to write a 500 to 750 word essay on the theme of “The Importance of Religious Freedom.” The local contest will be sponsored by Knights of Columbus Columbia Council 1529. Entry deadline for this contest will be November 8, 2013.
